A tropical four-island chain — home of the Island Trials, the Guardian Deities, the Aether Foundation, and Ash's first regional-league victory.

Alola replaced the eight-gym structure with the Island Challenge — four Grand Trials, one per island, officiated by the Island Kahunas. The climate is year-round summer. The Guardian Deities (Tapu Koko, Lele, Bulu, Fini) protect the islands and occasionally appear to trainers they favor. This is where Ash finally, after six regions, won.

Appearance

Four sunlit islands ringed by coral reefs — Melemele, Akala, Ula'ula, and Poni — volcanic peaks, beaches, resort towns, the Aether Paradise's glass-and-steel dome offshore. Hibiscus, surfboards, open-air Pokémon schools.
