The emerald sky-serpent of Hoenn's ozone layer — the Mega-capable weather-stopper whose rivalry with Groudon and Kyogre defines the balance of the region.

Rayquaza dwells in the ozone layer and only descends when Groudon and Kyogre clash — acting as the natural arbitrator of Hoenn's climate. In the Horizons era, a Black Rayquaza bonded with the Ancient Adventurer, whose pendant Liko inherits. Mega Rayquaza is among the most powerful Pokémon the anime has ever animated.

Appearance

A long, sinuous green dragon, over twenty feet in length, yellow markings down its back, red-tipped fins, a great forked tail. Moves through the sky like a river. Mega form is deeper green with golden filigree.
