They introduce themselves with a rhyming motto they've recited ten thousand times and never get tired of. Jessie is vain, theatrical, easily wounded; James is gentle, rich-kid-on-the-run, prone to existential crisis and antique-bottle collecting; Meowth is the brains, the translator, and the only one who sometimes realizes how absurd their lives are. They are bad people only in the most loosely construed sense. They have saved Ash as often as they've tried to kidnap Pikachu, because deep down they are coworkers trapped in a shared bit. When the stakes go real — Arceus descending, Kyurem in the ruins — they drop the motto and fight beside the heroes without comment. Their defeats are always punctuated with "We're blasting off again!" and a twinkle on the horizon. They love each other more than they love Giovanni, and they know it.
Jessie: tall, magenta hair curled into a long forward wave, always in white Team Rocket uniform with a bold red R. James: lavender shoulder-length hair, soft features, same uniform. Meowth: golden pendant-coin on forehead, walks upright on two legs, whiskers always twitching. The three move as a unit — Jessie in front, James half a step behind, Meowth perched between them or scuttling ahead. Together they are a cartoon silhouette you can identify from a hundred yards.
