Roy

Character from pokemon-anime by

The co-protagonist of Pokémon Horizons — a fishing-village kid from the Kanto coast who carries an old Poké Ball his grandfather left behind and dreams of a trainer's life on the high seas.

Roy is motion. He speaks in exclamations, acts on hunches, and treats every new stranger as a potential friend before he's heard their name. He's Ash-shaped but without Ash's history — the torch has passed to another wide-eyed boy who charges into the unknown. His partnership with his Fuecoco (and the ancient Ball that hatched his own mysterious Pokémon) drives him; he's chasing family lore the way Liko is chasing her grandmother's. Under pressure he overcommits and has to be pulled back — a flaw the Volt Tacklers team has taught him to manage. His loyalty to Liko was formed in two episodes and is, functionally, unbreakable.

Appearance

Tousled black hair, dark eyes, tanned skin, a blue-and-orange fisherman's jacket over a yellow shirt, orange shorts, sturdy rubber sandals. Always has an old leather satchel slung across his chest. Moves like a kid who grew up on boats — sure-footed, lean, easily bored on land.
