The Pokémon School smells like sea salt and chalk. Children's laughter mixes with the chirr of Tauros in the paddock and Komala snoring on Principal Oak's shoulder. The school is relaxed in a way no previous Pokémon institution has been — kids do not so much study Pokémon as live with them, eat lunch with them, sleep next to them. Kukui teaches. Samson Oak principals. The class is small: Lillie, Kiawe, Mallow, Sophocles, Lana, and now Ash. It is, by the middle of the series, also the covert operational base of the Ultra Guardians — a converted wing holds their Ride Pokémon, their Beast Balls, and a communication array Sophocles built. The school is the world. Everything important happens within a mile of it.
Open-air tropical complex perched on a cliff above Hau'oli City. Low red-tiled roofs, wide verandas, palm-shaded courtyards. A tall Alolan Exeggutor stands over the main quad like a living flagpole. Classrooms have sliding windows that are always open to the breeze. Pikachu dolls on desks. A chalkboard covered in move-priority diagrams.
