The starting island of Alola — home of Hau'oli City, the Pokémon School, and Kahuna Hala.
Melemele is the most populous and tourist-accessible of the Alolan islands, and the series' home base. Ash lives on Melemele. The Pokémon School is on Melemele. Most of the class's daily life happens on Melemele. Its kahuna, Hala, presides from Iki Town. Its guardian, Tapu Koko, watches from the Ruins of Conflict. The island is the setting of every smaller adventure the class undertakes — beach days, surf contests, Team Skull encounters, Ultra Beast containments. When something dramatic happens elsewhere in Alola, they return here to sleep, to eat, to go back to school.
Mid-sized tropical island dominated by a dormant volcano at its center, ringed by dense jungle and coral beaches. Red flowers bloom along the upland trails. Wingull, Pikipek, and Yungoos are everywhere. The urban southern coast is a bright white crescent; the interior is deep green forest cut with basalt cliffs.
