Konikoni is where Alolan Z-Crystals enter the regional economy. The raw stones are mined elsewhere — mostly in Akala's volcanic interior — and brought here to be cut, verified, and distributed. Kahuna Olivia's shop is the city's most respected jeweler; most trainers in Alola have a Z-Crystal she personally cut. The city is also the site of Akala's grand trial — held in a back-room arena at Olivia's shop, a fact she does not advertise. Challengers arrive thinking they've come to buy a necklace and leave having battled a kahuna.

Appearance

Compact port town with whitewashed stucco buildings, terracotta roofs, and narrow streets lined with open-fronted jewelry shops. Market stalls display raw Z-Crystal stones in bright sunlight. Olivia's shop sits on the main plaza, its sign a pale stone pendant. The smell of the ocean and roasting malasadas. Mudsdale-drawn delivery carts on the cobblestones.
