The ancient ring of standing stones on Poni Island where Ultra Wormholes open — Nebby's evolution site, portal to Ultra Space.
The Altar has been here as long as Alola has had stories. The local myths describe it as the place where the Sunne Pokémon emerges from 'the other world' — which turns out to be literally correct. Ultra Wormholes open reliably here when the Flute ritual is performed or when Nebby arrives with sufficient energy. It is where Lusamine's rescue mission into Ultra Space begins and ends. It is where Ash and Lillie watch the sky split open and go back in after her. As night falls the altar configuration shifts to the Altar of the Moone, governing Lunala's side of the line. The same stones, the same plinth, the opposite half of the cosmic mechanism. The series treats the site with genuine reverence.
Windswept eastern plateau on Poni Island, ringed by six weathered basalt pillars around a central plinth carved with constellations and an orbit diagram. At certain hours, the plinth catches direct sunlight and illuminates the pillars in a sequence. At night, the complementary Altar of the Moone configuration reveals itself. Mist thickens at dusk. Silent except for wind.
