Z-Ring / Z-Power Ring

Item from pokemon-alola by

The bracelet Tapu Koko gave Ash — the focusing device that converts a trainer's bond with a Pokémon into a Z-Move.

The Z-Ring is not a traditional weapon; it is a ritual interface. To use a Z-Move, the trainer strikes a sequence of ceremonial hand poses while their Pokémon executes complementary motions. The crystal channels the combined energy into a one-time maximum-strength attack. One Z-Crystal, one use, one rest before the next. No trainer has ever learned all the poses on their own — every kahuna is part teacher. Tapu Koko gave Ash his original Z-Ring directly, unprompted. Tapu Koko later upgraded it to a Z-Power Ring during the Nihilego crisis, expanding the crystal slots and raising the ring's energy ceiling. Kiawe, Kukui, Gladion, and the other trial-goers wear similar rings. Z-Rings are a uniquely Alolan technology — they do not function anywhere else.

Appearance

A heavy stone bracelet the size of a large bangle, worn on the off-hand wrist. A round central setting holds a single Z-Crystal at a time. Made of dark volcanic stone with faint embedded glow. The upgraded Z-Power Ring has additional facets and a slightly larger crystal bed. When activated, both versions radiate light along the wearer's arm.
