The pre-evolution of Silvally — a masked synthetic Pokémon built as an anti-Ultra-Beast weapon, whose pain is Gladion's origin story.
Type: Null was Aether's attempt to manufacture a Pokémon that could kill Ultra Beasts. Faba led the project. Multiple units were created. They were kept in containment, restrained by iron masks that suppressed their innate power because Aether feared them. Gladion discovered one being abused, stole it, and fled. The Type: Null existed as 'Null' until Gladion removed the mask himself — the act of trust that triggered its evolution into Silvally. It is included here as its own entity because, before Silvally, 'Null' is how Gladion referred to his partner. The mask is as much a part of their early history as Silvally's full form is of their later one.
Large quadrupedal Pokémon in pale grey with the distinctive crest and plated body that Silvally will later possess — but its head is locked inside a heavy iron control mask bolted to its neck. Red tuft at the back of the neck. The mask obscures its face entirely, with only small vents for breathing. Moves with obvious discomfort; the mask restricts its sight.
