Ula'ula Island's guardian deity — Grass/Fairy, lazy-seeming, deceptively strong, and the one who conscripted Nanu as kahuna against his will.
Tapu Bulu looks lazy. It is not lazy. It has simply decided, at some point in its long life, that haste is undignified. It prefers to stand in fields. It prefers to watch. When forced into combat, it wields Wood Hammer with the kind of force that flattens hilltops. Its patience is infinite. Its temper, when provoked, is the opposite. It appointed Nanu as kahuna by depositing a Z-Crystal in his house and refusing to accept its return. It oversees Ula'ula — the largest Alolan island — with the minimum possible oversight, trusting the island to run itself. It emerges in force only during the worst of the Ultra Beast crisis.
Stocky bull-like spirit with thick dark-red body plating and enormous curved wooden horns. Brown tufts of fur at the shoulders and ankles. Heavy, slow movements. Tends to doze in grass fields or on cliff edges rather than patrol. Eyes open slowly. When it moves with intent, the ground shakes.
