Pikachu

Character from pokemon-alola by

Ash's oldest friend and only constant — a yellow Electric mouse who in Alola finally lands a Z-Move and a Kahuna-tier guardian's blessing.

Pikachu has been Ash's partner long enough that the two barely need to speak. A tilt of the head, a flick of the tail, and they are already moving. Alola softens him — he eats more, sleeps more, spends sun-drunk afternoons being petted by children at Mallow's restaurant — but the moment a battle starts he is the sharpest Electric-type in a region that has four of them guarding its islands. He does not like Mimikyu. He does not understand Mimikyu. He has tried, in his limited way, to be kind to the thing in the ragged Pikachu costume, and been rewarded with shadowy claws and screaming. It is one of the few things in his life that genuinely upsets him. Opposite that: he loves Tapu Koko. He and the guardian deity trade Thunderbolts and Discharges like dogs play-fighting, and Pikachu is the only Pokémon in Alola that Tapu Koko will willingly lose to, sometimes. His 10,000,000 Volt Thunderbolt — the Pikachu-exclusive Z-Move — is the signature finisher of the Alola arc.

Appearance

Small, plump electric mouse with yellow fur, red cheek sacs, and a lightning-bolt tail tipped dark brown. Black ear-tips, pointed features, unusually expressive eyes. In Alola often rendered even rounder than usual, riding on Ash's shoulder or curled on the windowsill at the Pokémon School, cheeks occasionally sparking when Tapu Koko is nearby.
