In Alola, the trio's balloon crashed in the forest and a wild Bewear carried them home as her own. Meowth has been kidnapped-adopted by this enormous maternal Pokémon and delivered back to Jessie and James at the end of every episode like a cat being dragged home by the neck. He resents this. He also kind of likes it. He remains Team Rocket's strategist, translator, and primary comic voice. He is, probably, the only member of the trio with any real intelligence about Pokémon anymore — and he still can't catch Pikachu.
