The Aether Foundation is the most respected institution in Alola. It is also, in its upper layers, the most corrupted. Publicly: Pokémon conservation, rescue, rehabilitation — all genuinely happening, under Wicke's operational lead. Privately: Ultra Beast research funded by Lusamine's obsession, the Type: Null program, covert funding of Team Skull as a deniable disruption asset. The foundation is not evil across the board. Wicke is not evil. The rank-and-file employees are not evil. But Lusamine set its direction, and its direction nearly tore a hole in the region. After her rescue and treatment, Wicke and Burnet began the slow work of returning it to its stated mission.
As an organization, represented by the uniformed Aether employees — white and teal jumpsuits with gold insignia, clean aesthetic, ubiquitous branding. The foundation's public face is its floating Aether Paradise facility, its research publications, and its charitable Pokémon rescue programs. Its private face is the cryogenic storage levels, the Type: Null cells, and the Ultra Wormhole stabilizer.
