Sootopolis City is one of the most visually striking locations in the manga — a city carved into the walls of a volcanic crater in the middle of the ocean. Wallace runs the Water-type Gym here, and the Cave of Origin lies at the city's heart. During the RS arc, Sootopolis became ground zero for the Groudon/Kyogre battle: both ancient Pokémon converged on the city, their conflicting powers threatening to tear Hoenn apart. Norman's sacrifice controlling Rayquaza saved the city from total destruction.
A stunning city built on the inner walls of a massive volcanic crater rising from the sea, accessible only by diving or flying. White buildings cascade down the crater walls to the water below. The Cave of Origin sits at the crater's base. Beautiful but vulnerable — a bowl waiting to be filled.
