New Bark Town is Johto's equivalent of Pallet Town — a quiet starting point that produces extraordinary trainers. Professor Elm's laboratory houses the Johto starters and his research on Pokémon breeding and evolution. Gold grew up here, and Silver's theft of Totodile from Elm's lab set the GSC arc in motion. The town's name references its symbolism: a place where new journeys begin.
