The Lake of Rage is where Team Rocket's forced evolution experiments become visible. Their radio signal, broadcast from Mahogany Town, forced Magikarp in the lake to evolve prematurely, producing the infamous Red Gyarados — a shiny Gyarados driven mad by artificial evolution. The lake serves as evidence of Team Rocket's cruelty and the lengths they'll go to in pursuit of power. Lance used the Red Gyarados situation as further justification for his misanthropic ideology.
