Ilex Forest

Location from Pokémon Adventures by Hidenori Kusaka & Satoshi Yamamoto

An ancient forest in Johto housing a temporal shrine — Celebi's domain and the site of the GSC arc's climactic confrontation between Gold and the Masked Man through time itself.

Ilex Forest is one of the manga's most important locations — a place where time itself bends. The forest's shrine is Celebi's anchor point for time travel, and the Masked Man (Pryce) spent decades visiting it in his obsessive quest to capture the temporal guardian. The GSC arc's climax occurred here: Gold pursued Pryce through the shrine's time portal, Pibu destroyed the GS Ball, and Pryce was trapped in a temporal void. The forest itself feels ancient and alive, resistant to human intrusion.

Appearance

Dense, primordial forest with massive ancient trees whose canopy blocks most sunlight. A small shrine sits in a clearing, surrounded by soft golden light. Time feels different here — moments stretch and compress. Moss-covered stone paths lead to the shrine.
