Goldenrod City is Johto's beating heart — the largest and most commercially active city in the region. Whitney runs her Normal-type Gym here, DJ Mary broadcasts from the Radio Tower, and the underground tunnel system connects various parts of the city. During the GSC arc, Team Rocket seized the Radio Tower to broadcast propaganda, and the Pokédex holders had to retake it. The Magnet Train connects Goldenrod to Saffron City in Kanto.
