The Blue Orb is the counterpart to the Red Orb — an ancient artifact created to control Kyogre. When Archie used it at the Seafloor Cavern, the Blue Orb resonated with Kyogre, forcibly awakening the Sea Basin Pokémon and beginning the flood crisis that nearly drowned Hoenn. Like the Red Orb, it can overwhelm its user, merging their consciousness with Kyogre's primal desire to expand the seas.
