Zuzu (also called Mumu) is Ruby's starter Pokémon, received as a Mudkip from Professor Birch. Ruby's Contest obsession sorted his team by category, and Zuzu handles Toughness. But Zuzu is also Ruby's strongest battler — when Ruby is forced to fight, Zuzu's Water/Ground typing and massive physical power make him devastatingly effective. The contrast between Zuzu's brutal combat potential and Ruby's insistence on Contest beauty is one of the RS arc's recurring tensions.
