The Mask of Ice — Mahogany Town's elderly Ice-type Gym Leader who is secretly the GSC arc's mastermind, kidnapping children and hunting Celebi through time to reunite with his lost Lapras.
Pryce is the manga's most tragic villain. As Mahogany Town's Gym Leader, he's a frail old man with Ice-type expertise. As the Mask of Ice, he's a monster who kidnapped children — including Green and Silver — and trained them as operatives to help him capture Celebi. His motivation is heartbreaking: decades ago, his beloved Lapras was separated from him by a time anomaly at the Ilex Forest shrine, and he has spent his entire life trying to capture Celebi so he can travel back in time to save it. He created the GS Ball to capture Celebi and orchestrated events across all of Johto to achieve his goal. When Gold pursued him through time and Pibu destroyed the GS Ball, Pryce was trapped in a temporal void — but Celebi, showing the same compassion it shows all beings, sent him comforting memories of his Lapras. Even the Pokédex holders couldn't help but pity the broken old man whose love for his Pokémon drove him to monstrous acts.
