Character from Pokémon Adventures by Hidenori Kusaka & Satoshi Yamamoto
Kanto's foremost Pokémon researcher and creator of the Pokédex — he selects Pokédex holders, assigns their titles, and serves as the connective tissue between every generation of young trainers who save the world.
Professor Oak is far more than a kindly mentor in the manga — he's a strategic thinker who deliberately selects Pokédex holders based on the unique skills he identifies in each trainer. He named Red 'Fighter,' Blue 'Trainer,' Green 'Evolver,' and Yellow 'Healer,' recognizing that each brings something irreplaceable to the larger mission. He initially denied Gold a Pokédex, requiring proof of worthiness. Oak was kidnapped by Team Rocket and forced to work as a scientist, rescued by the combined efforts of the Pokédex holders. He entered the Pokémon League in disguise as Dr. O. His greatest ongoing project is assembling complementary teams of Pokédex holders who together can face threats no individual could handle. He works with Professors Elm and Birch to extend the Pokédex system to Johto and Hoenn.
Older man with grey-brown hair, kind but sharp eyes. Wears a white lab coat over a red polo shirt and khaki pants. Slightly stooped but energetic. Has disguised himself as 'Dr. O' to compete in the Pokémon League.
