The Indigo Plateau is the seat of Pokémon League authority in Kanto. Red earned his championship here. The Elite Four were supposed to serve as its guardians. Instead, they've abandoned the Plateau for Cerise Island, turning the League's protectors into its greatest threat. The Plateau doesn't feature heavily in the Yellow arc's action — the Elite Four have relocated — but it looms as the institution that failed. The system that was supposed to channel the strongest trainers toward public good produced four people who decided humanity wasn't worth saving.
