Cinnabar Island is where Mewtwo was born and where Blaine's guilt lives. The Pokémon Mansion — Team Rocket's old genetics lab — is where Blaine helped create Mewtwo using Mew's DNA and his own cells. The consequences of that decision are literally killing him. Blaine's Fire-type Gym operates here, and the island's proximity to Cerise Island makes it strategically important for the final assault. The heroes stage from nearby as they prepare to assault Lance's fortress.
