Blue Oak

Character from pokemon-adventures-yellow by

Viridian Gym Leader and Pokédex holder — Red's rival turned reluctant mentor to Yellow, he teaches her battle strategy before joining the Cerise Island assault against his old enemy Agatha.

Blue enters the Yellow arc by one-shotting a Gastly that had every Gym Leader and Yellow pinned down, then casually revealing it belonged to Agatha. He's the first person to take Yellow's quest seriously enough to actually train her, though the experience frustrates him — she lacks basic battle knowledge and her refusal to hurt Pokémon drives him up the wall. He teaches her anyway. Not out of kindness — Blue doesn't do kindness — but because he recognizes that she's going to walk into Elite Four territory whether she's ready or not, and he'd rather she survive. His training is blunt, demanding, and effective: more intense strategies, real battle pressure, no coddling. At Cerise Island, Sabrina's Spoons of Destiny pair him with Koga. Together they face Agatha — Blue's nemesis from a previous encounter at the Kanto Power Plant. The pairing with Koga forces two people who don't trust each other to cooperate under lethal pressure. In the finale, Blue stands alongside Red and Green to channel their starters' energy to Yellow through Pika's String Shot, enabling the Megavolt that defeats Lance.

Appearance

Tall, spiky brown hair, sharp features. Carries himself with the confident arrogance of someone who was champion for about five minutes before Red took it from him. Dresses practically — dark jacket, traveling clothes. His expression defaults to unimpressed.
