A city inside a volcanic crater filled with water — the arena where gods collide, champions die, and two children stop the end of the world.
Sootopolis City is the climactic battlefield of the Ruby & Sapphire arc. Wallace's Gym is here (later Juan's when Wallace becomes Champion). The city's unique geography — a crater filled with sea — makes it the natural convergence point for Groudon (land/fire) and Kyogre (sea/water). The final battle takes place here: Groudon and Kyogre clash in the crater while the Gym Leaders hold defensive positions, Steven Stone dies controlling the Regis, Norman rides Rayquaza in to tip the balance, and Ruby and Sapphire use the Orbs to end it. The entire city becomes a war zone of impossible weather — drought on one half, flood on the other, with the boundary line running through the center of the crater. After the crisis, Sapphire confesses to Ruby here. He erases her memory with Celebi. The crater holds everything.
A city built inside the caldera of an ancient volcano, now filled with seawater. White buildings climb the inner walls of the crater. The only entrance is by diving underwater or flying over the rim. The water at the center is impossibly deep and impossibly still — until Groudon and Kyogre arrive, and then it becomes a boiling, freezing, world-ending battlefield.
