Mt. Pyre is where the Red and Blue Orbs were stored for centuries — ancient artifacts capable of awakening and linking to Groudon and Kyogre. The mountain serves as Hoenn's primary Pokémon cemetery, which makes the theft of the Orbs a desecration as well as a catastrophe. Team Aqua and Team Magma both raid Mt. Pyre to steal the Orbs. Their temporary alliance to accomplish this — and immediate betrayal afterward — sets the final crisis in motion. Once the Orbs leave Mt. Pyre, there's no going back.
A tall mountain shrouded in mist, serving as both a Pokémon cemetery and a sacred shrine. Gravestones and memorial markers dot the lower slopes. The summit holds the shrine where the Red and Blue Orbs were kept — two ancient spheres on pedestals, guarded by an elderly couple. The atmosphere is heavy with grief, reverence, and the accumulated spiritual energy of thousands of departed Pokémon.
