Ruby's Swampert — a Tough Contest champion and powerhouse fighter who evolved from the Mudkip Ruby received at the start of his journey.
Zuzu evolved from Mudkip through Marshtomp into Swampert over the course of the arc. He's Ruby's Tough Contest specialist — the category that most naturally aligns with battle power, which means Zuzu is the Pokémon where Ruby's two worlds overlap most visibly. In battle, Zuzu is a juggernaut. Water/Ground typing gives him excellent coverage and his physical strength is immense. Ruby may pretend to hate fighting, but Zuzu's power says otherwise. Capable of Mega Evolution into Mega Swampert in later arcs.
