A preserved piece of ancient amber containing Aerodactyl DNA — revived at Cinnabar Island's laboratory to become Red's Aero.
The Old Amber is one of several fossil specimens in Kanto that can be revived into living Pokémon using Cinnabar Island's technology. Red obtained it during his travels and brought it to the island's laboratory, where the revival process restored the prehistoric Aerodactyl within. The revived Aerodactyl — Aero — became a crucial member of Red's team, providing aerial combat capability and speed. The Old Amber's revival ties into the arc's scientific themes: the same island that creates new life from ancient fossils also created Mewtwo from living DNA.
