The legendary Electric/Flying bird Pokémon captured by Lt. Surge at the Power Plant — one third of the legendary bird trio weaponized by Team Rocket.
Zapdos was captured by Lt. Surge at the abandoned Power Plant under Giovanni's orders. Surge used Zapdos as a living battery — powering his Electrode bazooka and Magneton shield with the legendary bird's electrical output. This weaponization of a legendary Pokémon is one of the arc's most disturbing images: a creature of immense natural power reduced to a power source for military hardware. Zapdos was later combined with Articuno and Moltres by Team Rocket to create Thu-Fi-Zer, a chimeric fusion of all three legendary birds. The fusion was powered by the Badge Energy Amplifier at Silph Co., and its defeat required the combined efforts of all three Pokédex holders.
A large yellow avian Pokémon with jagged, lightning bolt-shaped wings and tail feathers. Its body crackles with electrical energy, and it generates thunderstorms simply by flying. Sharp beak, fierce eyes, an aura of barely contained power.
