The Elite Four

Character from pokemon-adventures-rgb by

Kanto's four most powerful trainers — Lorelei, Bruno, Agatha, and Lance — who observe the Pokémon League from the shadows with ambitions that extend far beyond the tournament.

The Elite Four appear only at the tail end of the RGB arc, but their presence recontextualizes everything. They are not the benign challenge-gauntlet of the games — in the Adventures manga, the Elite Four are antagonists with their own agenda. Their plans involve using the Pokémon League as a base of operations for something far more dangerous than Team Rocket's schemes. Their full storyline bleeds into the Yellow arc, making them the bridge between RGB and the next chapter. In the RGB arc, they function as a final ominous note — the suggestion that even with Team Rocket defeated and the championship won, Kanto's troubles are far from over. Lance, their leader, is a Dragon-type specialist whose power rivals anything Giovanni commanded. The Elite Four represent a different kind of threat: not criminals motivated by profit, but ideologues motivated by a vision of what the world should be.

Appearance

Four distinct figures: Lorelei, a bespectacled woman with an icy demeanor; Bruno, a massive martial artist with barely any clothing; Agatha, a hunched elderly woman with an ancient, malicious air; and Lance, a caped Dragon-type master with aristocratic bearing. They appear briefly at the end of the RGB arc, watching the tournament.
