The Whirl Islands are Lugia's stronghold, surrounded by whirlpools of its own creation. After Gold and Silver were defeated at the Lake of Rage and carried here by Entei, they recovered and were joined by Crystal. The three trainers battled Lugia together — their first true cooperative effort. Morty used his clairvoyance to locate Gold and Silver here at Lt. Surge's request. The Whirl Islands battle is a turning point: three rivals forced to work as a team, discovering they're stronger together than apart.
A cluster of rocky islands surrounded by violent whirlpools that make approach nearly impossible. Caves riddle the islands' interiors. Deep within the caverns, Lugia rests. The sea spray is constant, the roar of water deafening. Getting in is a challenge; getting out is harder.
