Ilex Forest is the arc's climactic battleground. The shrine at its center is Celebi's domain — the gateway through time that the Masked Man has spent decades trying to reach. Will and Karen guard the forest on the Masked Man's orders, attacking Green when she arrives. The final battle unfolds here: Gold unmasks Pryce, the GS Ball is forged and used to capture Celebi, Pryce escapes into the time stream, and Gold, Silver, and Crystal pursue him. Green overcomes her bird phobia. Red and Blue fight alongside the Johto team. The legendary beasts converge. Three generations of Pokédex holders unite against a single, grief-mad old man. When the GS Ball is destroyed and Pryce is trapped in time, the forest returns to silence. Celebi's shrine stands unchanged. Time moves forward again.
