The Aurora Pokémon — freed from the Burned Tower, it wandered Johto testing Gym Leaders for worthiness before ultimately choosing Crystal for the battle that mattered most.
Suicune was one of three Pokémon that perished when the Burned Tower burned 150 years ago. Ho-Oh revived them as the legendary beasts. Yellow inadvertently freed Suicune, Raikou, and Entei from imprisonment by the Masked Man. After its release, Suicune began systematically testing Johto's Gym Leaders — Clair, Chuck, Morty, Bugsy, and others — seeking a trainer worthy of partnership. Crystal first encountered it in Olivine City, where it purified polluted seawater. She pursued it obsessively to Tin Tower but failed to capture it. Suicune kept one of Crystal's fallen earrings — a gesture that suggested connection even in rejection. Suicune first chose Misty at Tohjo Falls, and with her, Misty dominated the exhibition tournament. But after being weakened by a Gastly's Curse during a confrontation with the Masked Man, Suicune switched its allegiance to Crystal for the final battle at Ilex Forest. After the Masked Man's defeat, Suicune returned to the wild.
A graceful quadruped with a blue body, white diamond-shaped spots, a purple flowing mane that resembles the northern wind, and a crystal crest on its forehead. Moves like water given form — fluid, silent, impossibly fast. Wherever it walks, polluted water purifies and sick Pokémon heal.
