Kurt is the last Poké Ball craftsman who works by hand, creating custom balls from Apricorns. His ancestors were the only ones capable of making Poké Balls before mass production began. He challenges Gold and Silver to catch Pokémon using his custom balls — Friend Balls and Heavy Balls respectively. Kurt's ancestral knowledge becomes a critical plot point: the Masked Man forces Kurt to surrender the plans for creating the GS Ball — the only device capable of capturing Celebi. Without Kurt's stolen knowledge, Pryce's entire plan would have been impossible. Kurt's craftsmanship, meant to help trainers, becomes the tool of the arc's greatest villain.
An elderly man with a bald head, thick eyebrows, and calloused hands from decades of craftsmanship. Wears traditional working clothes. His workshop is filled with Apricorns and half-finished Poké Balls. Moves with the deliberate precision of someone who shapes objects by hand.
