Exbo was one of the three starters at Professor Elm's lab — the Cyndaquil that Gold received after Silver stole Totodile. Initially small and uncertain, Exbo evolved through Gold's journey, growing alongside its trainer from Cyndaquil to Quilava to Typhlosion. It became Gold's most reliable battler, complementing his Sunbo's Sunny Day with devastating fire attacks. Exbo's evolution arc mirrors Gold's own growth from reckless kid to genuine hero.
A large, badger-like Pokémon with dark blue fur on its back and cream-colored fur on its belly. When agitated or battling, flames erupt from around its neck, forming a fearsome mane of fire. As a Cyndaquil, it was small and timid; as Typhlosion, it's a force of nature.
