Giovanni's flying fortress -- a massive aircraft where the final battle plays out, rigged to explode by a traitor and saved from crashing by a son carrying his father through flames.
The Team Rocket airship is the arc's final arena. Giovanni commands operations from its bridge, the Beast Trio operates from its decks, and the climactic battle between Mewtwo and Deoxys takes place in its central chamber. Carr planted eleven Forretress throughout the ship as living bombs, programming them to use Explosion simultaneously. His plan was to crash the airship into Vermilion City, killing everyone aboard and below. Red stayed behind to find and defeat all ten remaining Forretress (one was already neutralized), preventing the catastrophe. When the ship finally went down, Silver carried the injured Giovanni through the burning corridors. Giovanni held Silver to shield him from the flames. It is the moment where villain and son became something more complicated than either label. Sird fired Darkrai's beam from the airship's deck. The five Pokedex holders were turned to stone in its shadow.
An enormous dark aircraft bearing the Team Rocket insignia, hovering above Viridian City. Its interior is military-industrial -- long corridors, command decks, holding cells, and battle arenas large enough for Mewtwo and Deoxys to fight at full power. After Carr's betrayal, it fills with smoke and fire from the Forretress explosions.
