Two precious stones from Hoenn that unlock Deoxys's full forme-change ability and power the Network Machine -- the MacGuffins that every faction in the arc is fighting over.
The Ruby and Sapphire gems are the arc's central objects of contention. Giovanni obtained them from Hoenn and gave them to Sird to enable Deoxys's full forme transformations -- without them, Organism No. 2 could only shift between two of its four formes. They were stored in the Rocket Warehouse on Five Island until Bill and Celio retrieved them. Celio also needed them for the Network Machine -- the same gems that unlocked an alien Pokemon's power were the key component for connecting the Sevii Islands' Pokemon storage to the mainland. The irony is intentional: tools of destruction and tools of connection, residing in the same two stones.
A brilliant red gem (Ruby) and a deep blue gem (Sapphire), each roughly palm-sized and radiating faint energy. When brought together, they resonate with a frequency that interacts with Deoxys's cellular structure and the Network Machine's circuitry.
