He loses badly in their first encounter and spends the arc rebuilding himself through Ultima's training. By the end, he has learned Frenzy Plant, allied with Mewtwo, and fought Giovanni on a crashing airship. His relationships define him. Blue is his rival-turned-brother, the one person who can match him move for move. Green is the clever third point of their triangle, the one he trusts to handle what he can't see. He carries responsibility for all of them without being asked.
