Blue is everything Red is not: calculated, reserved, and ruthlessly efficient. Where Red follows instinct, Blue follows strategy. He became Viridian City's Gym Leader after Red declined the position, and he took to it with the methodical intensity he applies to everything. In this arc, Blue is forced to confront uncomfortable truths. He fights Orm of the Three Beasts and wins decisively, infiltrates Trainer Tower using his Porygon2 to hack the central computer, and helps free Professor Oak. But his most important contribution is emotional -- he convinces Silver to stop hating Giovanni by sharing his own experience of reconciling with a difficult legacy as Oak's grandson. His Charizard learns Blast Burn from Ultima. His Rhydon was trained using a strategy guide Giovanni himself wrote. The irony is not lost on him.
Tall and sharp-featured with spiky brown hair, carrying himself with the practiced cool of someone who knows exactly how good he is. Wears a high-collared jacket and moves with deliberate precision. His expression defaults to analytical -- always reading the battlefield, always three steps ahead.
