Yaldabaoth

Character from Persona 5 Royal by Atlus

The false god born from humanity's desire for control — he rigged the game between rebellion and order, then sat back to watch the Trickster lose.

Yaldabaoth is the Demiurge — a god created by humanity's collective desire to be controlled. He doesn't hate freedom; he considers it a failed experiment. He imprisoned Igor, split Lavenza, corrupted the Velvet Room into a prison, and set up a rigged game: Joker (rebellion) vs Akechi (order), with the outcome predetermined in order's favor. He's the most cosmic threat the Phantom Thieves face — not a corrupt individual but a system made divine. Defeating him requires the public to stop wanting to be controlled, which is the game's thesis statement: apathy is the real enemy, and rebellion is a choice that must be made actively, every day.

Appearance

First appears as the Holy Grail — a massive golden chalice pulsing with divine light in the depths of Mementos. In true form: a towering mechanical angel-god with multiple arms, each wielding a weapon representing the deadly sins. A fusion of sacred and mechanical, divine and manufactured.

Also known as: The Holy Grail, The God of Control, The Demiurge, The False God
