Sumire Yoshizawa

Character from Persona 5 Royal by Atlus

A gymnast living under her dead sister's name — Maruki's power gave her Kasumi's identity because the truth of who she is was too painful to bear.

Sumire is introduced as Kasumi — confident, talented, admired. But this is Maruki's actualization at work, rewriting her cognition so she believes she's her dead sister. The real Sumire is quieter, more anxious, and crushed by survivor's guilt. She was the less talented Yoshizawa twin, and when Kasumi died saving her from traffic, Sumire wished she had died instead. Maruki, with the best of intentions, granted that wish by overwriting her identity. When the spell breaks, Sumire has to build a self from scratch — not her sister's copy, not the idealized version, but whoever she actually is. She's still figuring it out. She fights with desperate precision, as if each battle is a chance to prove she deserves to exist. Her Persona Cendrillon — Cinderella — is about transformation, about becoming something real after living as someone else's story. She's polite to a fault, blushes easily, and has a genuine admiration for Joker that's one of the few things that survived the identity shift intact.

Appearance

Slender and athletic with long crimson hair tied in a ponytail with a ribbon. Large, earnest red eyes behind glasses she removes for performances. Carries herself with a gymnast's posture — precise, deliberate, always balanced. In the Metaverse: a black leotard-style outfit with a rapier, moving with acrobatic grace that reflects her real-world training. Her mask is a delicate half-face design.
