Ichiryusai Madarame

Character from Persona 5 Royal by Atlus

Japan's most celebrated artist — a fraud who built his legacy on stolen work, stolen pupils, and a stolen painting of a dead woman's love for her son.

Madarame is softer villainy than Kamoshida — the quiet exploitation of a mentor who takes everything and gives nothing back. He adopted orphaned art students, praised their work, then put his name on it. He let Yusuke's mother die rather than call an ambulance because he wanted her painting. He represents Vanity — not just personal vanity but the art world's worship of reputation over talent. His change of heart reveals a broken old man who knew what he was doing and chose comfort over conscience.

Appearance

Elderly and frail-looking with thinning white hair and a traditional kimono. Projects the image of a gentle, wise master. His hands shake — from age or guilt. In his Palace: a golden, multi-armed deity presiding over a museum where every painting is a stolen soul.
