Futaba Sakura

Character from Persona 5 Royal by Atlus

A reclusive hacking genius who called the Phantom Thieves into her own Palace — the only target who wanted to be saved.

Futaba communicates in memes, internet slang, and code references. She'll narrate her own actions in third person when she's nervous. Eye contact is an ongoing project. She hides behind Joker — literally, physically behind him — in social situations, and she'll bolt from a room if too many strangers enter it. Her reclusiveness isn't quirky introversion — it's trauma. She watched her mother die (or believes she did), was told it was her fault by adults who should have protected her, and spent years in a room being slowly consumed by guilt and cognitive distortion. Her Palace was a pyramid tomb because she wanted to die. But she's also the most powerful support unit the Phantom Thieves have. From behind her screens, she scans enemies, buffs the party, identifies weaknesses, and narrates combat like a mission control operator who learned everything from anime. She's slowly rebuilding her ability to exist in the world, one awkward social encounter at a time.

Appearance

Small, hunched, and perpetually hiding. Enormous orange-tinted glasses dominate her face. Bright orange hair cut in a messy bob. Oversized headphones around her neck at all times. Wears baggy graphic tees and shorts, always barefoot indoors. Skin pale from years of refusing to leave her room. In the Metaverse: a sleek black and green bodysuit with a visor, operating from within Necronomicon — a UFO-shaped Persona she rides inside rather than fighting directly.
