The Sea of Monsters

Location from Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

The Bermuda Triangle — where Scylla, Charybdis, Circe's island, and Polyphemus live. Greek mythology's most dangerous waters, conveniently located off the Florida coast.

The Sea of Monsters is the mythological Bermuda Triangle — a stretch of ocean off the Florida coast where Greek maritime hazards cluster like a deadly theme park. Compasses spin, GPS fails, and islands that shouldn't exist shimmer into view on the horizon. Scylla and Charybdis guard the main passage between cliffs, devouring ships that stray too close to either side. Percy sailed through it to retrieve the Golden Fleece from Polyphemus's island, navigating past Circe's lair, hydra-infested waters, and the CSS Birmingham — a Confederate ironclad crewed by zombie sailors. Every dangerous sea creature from Homer makes an appearance.

Appearance

Seemingly normal ocean that becomes increasingly wrong — compass spinning, GPS failing, and mythological islands appearing where they shouldn't be. Scylla and Charybdis guard the main passage. The waters shimmer with magical interference.
