A summer camp for Greek demigods on Long Island — protected by magical borders, run by a centaur and an alcoholic wine god, and featuring a climbing wall that shoots lava.
Camp Half-Blood is where Greek demigods train to survive. It's protected by magical borders that keep monsters out (mostly), run by Chiron (the centaur who trained Hercules) and Mr. D (Dionysus, serving a hundred-year sentence for chasing a nymph). Activities include sword fighting, archery, ancient Greek, monster identification, and capture the flag (with real weapons). The camp is simultaneously a summer camp and a military training facility, which is exactly as uncomfortable as it sounds. Campers form bonds, go on quests, and sometimes die — the survival rate is not discussed at orientation.
A Greek-themed valley with strawberry fields, a canoe lake, an amphitheater, combat arenas, a climbing wall (on fire), and cabin rings arranged in a Greek omega. Each cabin is themed to its godly parent — the Zeus cabin is marble with lightning rods, the Hades cabin is obsidian black, and the Hermes cabin is chronically overcrowded. Thalia's Pine guards the entrance with the Golden Fleece and a dragon named Peleus.
