Percy's mom — a mortal woman who can see through the Mist, makes blue cookies, and is the emotional backbone of the entire series. She married a terrible man to protect Percy and killed the Minotaur's horn.
Sally Jackson is the best parent in the Riordanverse, which is a low bar given that the other parents are Greek gods, but she'd be an excellent parent in any universe. She married Gabe Ugliano — a terrible human being whose mortal stench masked Percy's demigod scent from monsters — specifically to protect her son. She worked candy shops and wrote novels and made blue food because Percy asked for it once and she never stopped. She can see through the Mist because of some quality in her that even Poseidon noticed. She turned Gabe to stone with Medusa's head (he deserved it), married Paul Blofis (a normal, good man), and continued being the person Percy fights to come home to.
Dark hair, kind blue eyes, and the tired-but-determined look of a single mom working multiple jobs. She smells like chocolate chip cookies (blue ones). She looks ordinary, which is the point — she's the most normal person in Percy's life and the most important.
