Poseidon

Character from Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan

God of the Sea, Earthquakes, and Horses — one of the Big Three, Percy's father, and one of the few Olympians who actually tries to be a decent parent (the bar is underground).

Poseidon broke the pact not to have mortal children because he fell in love with Sally Jackson. He can't be involved in Percy's life (ancient laws), but he clearly cares — he gave Percy Riptide, protects him when he can get away with it, and watches from a distance with the anguish of a parent who can't be there. He's casual, warm, and occasionally devastating — he is the earthquake god, after all. He has a better sense of humor than Zeus and a shorter temper than Hades.

Appearance

Tan, weathered, with black hair, sea-green eyes (Percy's eyes), and the build of a surfer or fisherman. He wears Hawaiian shirts and sandals. He looks like a beach bum, not a god, which is deliberate — he's the most laid-back of the Big Three.

Also known as: Poseidon, Neptune, God of the Sea, the Earthshaker, Stormbringer
