Character from Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
God of the Forge — ugly, brilliant, and perpetually underestimated. He builds things that make other gods' jaws drop and never gets invited to parties.
Hephaestus was thrown off Olympus by Hera for being ugly, built himself back up through craft, and earned his place through sheer talent. His forge runs hotter than any mortal foundry, and his hands move with precision that makes even Athena pause to watch. He gave Leo the fire ability — the rarest gift — because he saw something of himself in the kid: a builder who was underestimated by everyone around him. He communicates better through machines than words, and his workshop is the one place on Olympus where other gods feel out of their depth.
Muscular and misshapen, with a mechanical leg brace and grease-stained hands. His face is rough and scarred from forge work. He wears a jumpsuit and carries tools. He's the one Olympian who looks like he actually works for a living.
